Zanmi Beni Fish Farm Feeding It's Own And Neighbors Too

Thanks to the generosity of Operation Blessing International, Zanmi Beni has a new
self-sustaining fish farm and hatchery.

With a capacity for 25,000 tilapia there is  enough to feed everyone at Zanmi Beni plus a surplus to sell locally at a market stand just outside the gates of Zanmi Beni.  Lakay ZB is open for business and successfully selling fresh fish to the neighborhood.

The hope is that this project will serve as a model in Haiti. Operation Blessing hopes to showcase what can be accomplished and build similar self-sustaining projects across the Haiti. (August 2012)
Little Hands Helping Haiti:
Multi-Family Bake Sale Raises $3,400 for Zanmi Beni

A Sunday afternoon community bake sale in Coral Gables, Florida raised over $3,400 for the children of Zanmi Beni.  A group of families organized a neighborhood bake sale, involving children, parents, grandparents, and friends.

The families recruited their friends and family members to donate home baked goods and advertised the bake sale in local on-line magazines.  Spreading the word at the children's schools and their respective neighborhoods, they came together on a Sunday afternoon to enjoy food and friendship, and make a difference in the lives of the Zanmi Beni children. Gulliver Prep Collects 12,000 Diapers For Zanmi Beni

A huge thank you to Mrs. Gonzalez's 8th grade IB classes at Gulliver Prep in Pinecrest, Florida.  The children collected over 12,000 diapers to be shipped to Zanmi Beni for the babies.

This is the second year Mrs. Gonzalez has invited volunteers to speak to the students about Zanmi Beni and raise awareness for the many needs the center has.  Last year Gulliver had a baby wipes drive; this year the diapers were another huge success.  Thank you!   (March 2012)
Hair Care Raises $1,200
For Zanmi Beni

Many thanks to salon owner Jose Luis Alonso who donated a day's services at his South Miami hair salon to celebrate his shop's one year anniversary and raise funds and awareness for Zanmi Beni.  Customers came for cuts, coloring, and blow dries and all proceeds were donated to the center.  What a wonderful way to celebrate success - by sharing it with others!  (February 2012)
